Victoria’s Number One Builder: AHB Group Leads the Way in the 2024/25 HIA Housing 100 Report

With 2,891 new site starts, AHB Group climbed from second place in Victoria last year to claim the top spot. Nationally, AHB Group is now ranked the fifth largest builder in Australia, reaffirming its reputation as one of the country’s fastest-growing construction groups. Of the total site starts, 2,385 were detached houses and 506 semi-detached dwellings by partner business SOHO Living, highlighting the Group’s capability to deliver across multiple housing formats.
Despite industry-wide pressures including rising costs, labour shortages, and land constraints, AHB Group recorded a 20 per cent increase in new starts compared to the previous year. This reflects the broader strength of the Housing 100, which lifted overall activity by 11 per cent year-on-year.
Victoria remained the largest state market, with 20,192 starts representing 31 per cent of national Housing 100 output. Within this context, AHB Group’s rise to number one highlights its scale, resilience, and commitment to supporting families across the state.
